About the Event: "Each month, the museum partners with area organizations, volunteers, and artists to present a new and exciting event that celebrates art, music, and entertainment. Admission is $10 per person, free for museum members, and includes a cash bar."

About the Mars Trio: The Mars Trio was formed in 2004 by bass player Alejandro Arenas, drummer Mark Feinman and saxophonist Richard Van Voorst. At the time, all three were students at the University of South Florida in the Jazz program. The group began by playing together for the purpose of researching, studying, and learning new music, but soon a passion sparked among the members as they discovered the freedom and adventurous nature of the acoustic trio orchestration. The trio found itself in high demand and thus solidified itself as a working band in the West Florida area, while developing into a passionate artistic endeavor for the members.In August of 2007,Steve Davis stepped into the drum chair and the group took a new turn. While still keeping the original principles of the group intact, the different approach that Steve brought to the table took the group in new directions in improvisation, interaction, as well as some new and interesting repertoire. Following a short hiatus in 2008, the trio reformed in 2009 with drummer and composer Jose Cochez joining the group. Jose brings a fresh approach with an emphasis on spontaneity and conversation between the musicians.

The Group Performs many different styles of music from Be Bop, Hard Bop, and Modern Jazz to show tunes, as well as pop or Classical tunes with a jazz twist. You might hear music from Cole Porter, Rogers and Hammerstein, and Miles Davis, as well as The Police, Jimmy Buffett, and Van Morrison.

The Mars Trio plays restaurants, clubs, private parties, concerts and festivals and more. We can perform and tailor any type of music for any event, in any space. The repertoire is tailored to meet any and all needs, and we work closely with each employer to develop the desired ideal experience for our audience.

The Mars Trio is a also proponent of new music and always welcomes original compositions and arrangements from composers desiring to have their music performed.

The Mars Trio will be performing the first Wednesday of every month at Bonefish Grill in Carrollwood on N. Dale Mabry, beginning Wednesday February 3rd. They will be playing three sets beginning at 8:00pm. Come on out and enjoy a few drinks, some Bang-Bang Shrimp and some great Jazz!

The Forefront returns to Canvas 5

The Forefront will be returning to perform at the Canvas 5 Art Show at The Element Church in Tampa on Friday October 16th.

The event begins at 8:00pm and will feature various artists from Florida. The Forefront will be performing from 10:30pm to midnight. The group has been working on a recording to be released in late 2009 and will be feature some of the music from this recording as well as various new original pieces as well as some new arrangements of songs by artists such as Britney Spears, Sufjan Stevens, Passion Pit, and Deftones.

Canvas is in their sthird year and exists as a annual art premier. This is an excerpt of their purpose statement: "Canvas exists simply to promote a community of inspiration. Our idea, our dream, was born to provide a springboard for up and coming artists, in such a way that would benefit both their craft and career."

Jazz Under the Stars

Bring your beach blankets and lawn chairs on Sunday, October 18th, at 6:30pm, and enjoy the third annual "Jazz Under the Stars" at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. The church is located at 3315 Bryan Road, at the corner of Bryan and Bloomingdale. The jazz band, "Jazz Legacy," will be playing a variety of old American standards and new arrangements that the entire family will like. This outdoor concert is about relaxing and enjoying great music that you wouldn't typically hear. Find your favorite spot on the lawn and enjoy a picnic snack while you listen to the sounds of jazz.

Concertgoers will enjoy a sparkling ambiance from the many lights that volunteers from St. Andrew's United Methodist Church work hard to place around the area. "The lights just set the mood for a perfect evening," says Michele Pruyn, director of Music and Worship Arts at St. Andrew's.

Jazz Legacy Big Band and Friends is a full 16-piece band playing with select vocalists coming together to share their expertise and love of jazz. All the musicians are professionals who have been playing for many years. They perform at this event in order to give back to the community, and to share a style of music that brings enjoyment to young and old. It is unusual to have a band with this much talent at a local event. The band is excited to be debut their first album which will be available for sale at the concert.

David Pruyn, the band's conductor and trumpet player, explains: "You typically would have to go to New York to hear a band playing at this performance level. A local concert like this one is a true rarity, and it doesn't cost anything."

Concerts by "Jazz Legacy Big Band and Friends" at St. Andrew's have become a community favorite with them performing most recently Swing the Wondrous Story.

Live Jazz Series at Mitchell's ft. The Kym Purling Trio

Mitchell's Fish Market will begin a 5 weeks summer live jazz series starting June 11. The series will run every Thursday night and will feature the always incredible Kym Purling and his trio with Alejandro Arenas playing bass, and Mark Feinman on the Drums. Each week will also feature guest horn players which adds a great diversity to the evening with each person adding his or her own personal sound to an already incredible group of musicians.

One of the best things about hanging out at Mitchell's with Kym is that he is always looking to his audience for requests. Kym knows way too many tunes and so the variety is unending and the evening never gets boring. On top of that, I have yet to see Kym not know a standard that a guest has requested.

Purling pours himself, body and soul, into every piece that he plays. Hey never holds back and his style is a creative fresh and modern take on the richness of the jazz standards library. Sometimes, he takes you back to the golden area of jazz where you can imagine the experience of the sights and sounds of the jazz clubs. Other times, purling takes you on a soaring adventure through the surreal sounds of a debussy'esque flight through impressionism. Moreover, it is never overbearing and always intimately directed to his listener. In other words, you always know that he is playing the piece directly for you as you sit and listen.

Kym also plays solo piano at Mitchelle's on Wednesday's from 6-10pm and Fridays and Saturday's from 6-11pm. This is some of the greatest solo piano that can be found in the Tampa Bay area and provides and even more intimate setting for a relaxing evening of great food. This combined with Mitchelle's great bar selection and very hip atmosphere makes for one of rthe best nights out in Tampa.

Lynne Arriale To Perform Solo Concert at Tampa's Historic Springs Theater

In her first solo concert in the Tampa Bay Area, pianist Lynne Arriale will perform at Tampa's historic Springs Theater on Sunday, November 23, at 3:00 PM.

Arriale's recordings and live shows have earned her international critical acclaim, comparing her in stature to Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans and Ahmad Jamal. The New York Times said, "Lynne Arriale's brilliant musicianship and bandstand instincts place her among the top jazz pianists of the day." JazzTimes lauded her "flawless touch," and "impeccable sense of complex rhythms" while the BBC Music Magazine raved about her "luminous tone and superlative melodic flair."

Although the November 23 concert, presented by the Tampa Jazz Club, marks Arriale's first solo performance in the Tampa Bay area, this Florida resident's trio performances have been among the area's outstanding jazz events at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival in the past. As noted in Jazz Week: "She pinpoints a song's power, majesty, and soul simultaneously."

In early 2009, Arriale releases a new CD/DVD on Motema Music, backed by a new trio of jazz icons featuring Randy Brecker, George Mraz and Anthony Pinciotti. Titled NUANCE, The Bennett Studio Sessions, the studio produced CD will be accompanied by a bonus DVD capturing the group's debut live performance with a studio audience.

Join an intimate crowd of only 30 people lucky enough to see local jazz guitarist and composer, Larue Nickelson, perform live with his band in the Mike Eisenstadt Live Music Studio at 7:30 p.m. on August 14, 2008, 2008.

LaRue Nickelson is a jazz guitarist and composer from the Tampa Bay area. He has had a varied and diverse music career with many different groups. LaRue has played in New York, Italy, South Africa, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Montreux, and California as well as staying very busy doing festivals and clubs in the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Orlando, and Sarasota, Florida areas. LaRue has performed with Rich Perry, Peter Erskine, Jeff Berlin, Ira Sullivan, Ingrid Jensen, Don Braden, Rufus Reid, Sheila Jordan, Hank Marr, David Leibman, Chuck Owen and the Jazz Surge, Chick Corea, Conrad Herwig, Robbie Ameen, Giovanni Hildalgo, Gary Versace, Walt Weiskopf, Frank Foster, Mike Maineri, Adam Nusbaum, Steve Davis, Marcos Cavalcante, Patrick Bettison, Eric Darius, and Mike MacArthur. He has also recorded with Chuck Owen and the Jazz Surge, The Michael Ross Quartet, Greenwich Blue, Shawn Ashby, Kristen Lomholt, Mark Gould, and Cory Christiansen.

As well as recording and performing, LaRue is also a composer with almost 40 compositions to his credit, many of which have appeared on recordings by Greenwich Blue, The Michael Ross Quartet, and his own projects. His first solo project titled Dark Water has just been released featuring his original compositions. There are also some other recording projects in the works with Tom Brantley, Jeremy Douglas, Chuck Owen's tribute to Michael Brecker, Tom Carabasi, Patrick Bettison, and a duo album with Jeremy Powell. He also has written for two Mel Bay anthologies. He is the jazz guitar instructor at the University of South Florida and currently resides in Tampa, FL with his beautiful wife, Joy, and his slightly less attractive cat, Ornette.

The LaRue Nickelson Group features, Ryan Pate on guitar, Jeremy Powell on saxophone, Joe Porter on bass, and Ian Goodman on drums. Come listen to some great jazz and interact with the band and this month's emcee, ADTBJA member Kenny Walker.

Billy Norris Performing for WMNF Live Jazz Series

Bass player Billy Norris left Tampa a couple years ago to entertain jazz audiences in New York City, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots in the Tampa Bay area. On Thursday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m., he returns to Tampa for the WMNF 88.5 Live Jazz Series with friends LaRue Nickelson (guitar), Alex LoRe (sax) and Michael W. Davis (drums). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Seating is limited in the intimate live music studio and refreshments will be available.

Norris has been playing music since childhood, starting with the guitar, then evolving to play the bass, drums and sing. These days, he concentrates on perfecting his bass playing under the guidance of legendary Harvie S at the Manhattan School of Music, where he received a full-ride scholarship to attend after two impressive stints in the Grammy Jazz Ensemble in 2005 and 2006. Drummer Michael Davis also attends the Manhattan School of Music and is in the band Minor Blues alongside Norris. He hails from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Well-known Tampa Bay area guitarist LaRue Nickelson teaches guitar at University of South Florida and has several recordings to his credit, both as a leader and sideman. The LaRue Nickelson Trio has opened for many touring jazz artists and performs regularly in the region. As a member of Chuck Owen's Resurgence group, Nickelson was a performing artist at the 2000 International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in New Orleans. He also has performed at the Clearwater Jazz Festival, the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy and throughout South Africa as a member of the USF JAZZTET, the premier performing group of the USF Jazz Program.

Saxophonist Alex LoRe is a native of Tarpon Springs and resides in Jacksonville where he studies with legendary jazz master Bunky Green in the University of North Florida jazz studies program. LoRe has shared the stage with artists such as Benny Green, Russell Malone, Dianne Shuur and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones while playing lead alto saxophone chair in UNF’s award-winning Jazz Ensemble 1. He has performed at the Next Generation Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, The Ravinia Festival, the North Texas Jazz Festival, The Savannah Jazz Fesitval and the Mahaffey Theatre in St Petersburg.

Homemade: A Music Symposium

The Artists and Writers Group will debut HOMEMADE: A Music Symposium on Saturday, June 7, 2008. This free event will be a music conference and performance event with interactive educational music workshops.

The theme is the do-it-yourself music business that is swiftly growing with the rise of the Internet and inexpensive editing software. Self-promotion and production has always been necessary and important to the beginning and independent musician anyway — but now ‘taking care of business’ is ever more important and relevant to each musician.

Hillsborough Community College-Ybor City campus (Tampa) is a partner and will host the event in their new performing arts building located at Palm Ave and 14th Street, across from the Cuban Club. The event will run 10am to 5pm Saturday, June 7, 2008.

The symposium is free and open to the public and is supported by a grant provided to the Artists and Writers Group from the Ybor City Development Corporation. The Bay Area Artists and Musicians Organization (BAAMO) are assisting with organizing the event.

Presentations, discussions and workshops will range from writing songs to making a low-cost video for the Net; from how to make an electronic press kit to improving live performance with acting techniques; from recording at home to booking a tour; from samples of the history of the American Songbook to playing for silent films; from how to tune and play a Irish bouzouki to making rock jazzy and jazz rock.

When asked do describe his music, Joiner replied, "The Trio performs a variety of jazz standards with vibrant and fresh interpretations, with styles ranging from swing, blues, ballads, Bossa Nova, and funk." Daniel Joiner is a graduate of Stetson University in DeLand Florida, where he studied classical piano with Dr. Michael Rickman. His style has been greatly inspired by jazz pianists such as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Fats Waller, Michel Camillo, Errol Garner, and his teacher Harold Blanchard, in addition to influences from his study of classical literature. Having performed both in the University setting and in the community utilizing the classical genre, he now continues his performance endeavors as a jazz pianist. Since college, he has continued his studies in jazz improvisation with legendary New Smyrna jazz pianist Harold Blanchard. Joiner is focused on developing as a professional musician, making connections between a variety of styles including classical, jazz, Latin, blues, and gospel. I was just hipped to a great video of the Tampa Bay area's very own Buster Cooper. Buster has been playing for years now down at The Garden Restaurant in St. Petersburg and always generously allows young aspiring jazz musicians to sit in. Sitting down to talk to him about his experiences is veritable history lesson in jazz and more specifically a recount of the late 1960's Duke Ellington Orchestra. Here he takes the second solo blowing over "The Opener," but what's he playing?

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Chamber Music America, St. Petersburg College and EMIT present a special Encore concert of Codebook by Rudresh Mahanthappa with Vijay Iyer on piano, François Moutin on bass, and Damion Reid on drums Saturday, March 1 at the Music center at St. Pete College beginning at 8:00pm. There will also be a pre-concerton discussion at 7:pm.

Guggenheim fellow Rudresh Mahanthappa is one of the most innovative young musicians and composers in jazz today. Named a "Rising Star" of the alto saxophone by the Downbeat International Critics Poll for the past four years, #2 in 2006, Rudresh has incorporated the culture of his Indian ancestry and has fused myriad influences to create a truly groundbreaking artistic vision.

Mimi Fox at Cultural Center Theatre

Jazz Guitarist Mimi Fox will be performing in Port Charlotte on Sunday, March 16th at 7:30pm at the Cultural Center Theatre, sponsored by the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte county. For more information go to www.charlottearts.org

Fox started playing drums at nine, and then guitar when she was ten. She was inspired by the wide variety of music enjoyed by her family - show tunes, classical, Dixieland, Motown - and her own youthful inclination toward pop, folk, and R&B. When she was fourteen, she bought her first jazz album "because it was on sale." The one she chose had no guitarist, but she was "blown away" by it. That album, John Coltrane's classic "Giant Steps," changed the course of her musical life. She began touring right out of high school and eventually moved to San Francisco in 1979, where she became a sought-after musician. She is Chair of the Guitar Department at the innovative Jazz School in Berkeley, California and adjunct professor at New York University.

A seasoned player, Fox has performed with fellow guitarists Charlie Byrd, Charlie Hunter, Stanley Jordan and Kenny Burrell, as well as with Grammy award winners saxophonists Branford Marsalis and David Sanchez and Manhattan Transfer's Janis Siegel, saxophonist Don Lanphere, Hammond B3 organ virtuosos Barbara Dennerlien and Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington. Fox has also appeared on numerous television and radio shows including BET on Jazz and NPR's Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland as well as many others. Mimi is the head of the Jazz Guitar department At The Jazz School in Berkeley California.

Jeremy Powell Jazz Workshop at Musicology

Jeremy Powell, of Mayhem Productions, will be giving an eight week, in depth workshop jazz improvisational, jazz history, theory, and harmony, hosted by Musicology in Clearwater, starting Saturday Feb.9th from 2:30-3:30 and continuing through March 29. The workshop is geared towards the musician who wants to break out of the pentatonic scale and learn how to improvise over chord changes. This eight-week course will cover and break down the many different aspects of basic improvisation: chord tones, chord scales, guide-tone lines, modes etc., and analyze those aspects, helping students to improve on them regardless different skill levels. During the eight classes essential elements of jazz theory and song forms will be taught and, from the blues, to modal, rhythm changes, and other jazz song forms. By the end of the eight week session all of the students will have a better understanding of how to improvise as well as a priceless new confidence at soloing on there respective instrument.

On Friday and Saturday, January 4th and 5th, Jamey Aebersold will be performing with the Michael Royal Trio at the East Village Cabaret is Sarasota. Come hear a Master of Jazz Saxophone, making music for over 40 years.

Jamey is a internationally-known saxophonist and authority on jazz education and improvisation, and has developed a series of Play-A-Long book and cd sets for the development of improvisational skills. The Aebersold play-a-longs allow a musician the opportunity to practice and improvise with well-known jazz personalities at home as well as in the classroom.

In 1989, the International Association of Jazz Educators inducted Jamey into their Hall of Fame at the San Diego convention. With this award, Jamey joins other jazz luminaries such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong and others. There will be two sets per night at 7:30 and 9:30pm. Admission is $20.00 per show.

Venue Profile #2 - The Red Rose Room

Although The Red Rose Room has hosted live jazz for over three years, for the last year and a half, it has been the home of The Freetime Trio. The group plays every Tuesday and Wednesday night from 6-9 p.m. and performs various styles of jazz. Their repertoire includes various jazz standards, show tunes, and crooner tunes, as well as some original compositions by the members of the band.

The trio is headed up by Jody Marsh on piano, joined by his son Ryan Marsh on the drums. The group has had many bass players through the years, but currently Alejandro Arenas, who seems to be popping up everywhere in Tampa, occupies the bass chair.

The Red Rose Room itself has been described as one of the most elegant and romantic places to dine in Plant City. The vibe of the restaurant is intimate, romantic and professional. The live jazz compliments the room and is not overpowering thus creating a wonderfully relaxing place to hear creative straight-ahead jazz.

The Mars Trio will be performing a free concert in the Rectial Hall (FAH101) at the University of South Florida Tampa Campus on Monday ,September 17 beginning at 7:00pm.

The group consists of composer and saxophonist Richard Van Voorst., bassist, Alejandro Arenas, and drummer Steve Davis.The concert will feature various styles each with a little twist from composers like Chick Corea, Sam Rivers, Wayne Shorter and more.

Grille 29 Jam Wednesday Nights 8-11pm

I had the pleasure of attending the Grille 29 Jam Session in Channelside two weeks ago (my sincere apologies for my tardiness in posting). What I heard there was reassuring breath of fresh air when it comes to jam sessions. The jam session stresses what Jazz Vocalist and session leader Denise Moore calls “Pure Jazz.” Be-Bop and Hard Bop roots are always present in the musicians and jam session etiquette is expected and exists all the time. “There are no ‘Sax Wars’ and there’s always top notch etiquette. There’s a whole lotta snap,” said pianist Dan O’ Hara.

I was able to sit down to talk with the lovely Denise Moore who heads up the house band, “Denise Moore and Then Some.” When asked how she would describe the session she replied, “It’s innovative and totally open…We’ve been given a creative license. It’s a beautiful room, the food is great with a contemporary wine list and a knowledgeable staff that loves Jazz.” Denise discussed how using her own band as the core of the session and then expanding from there by letting other people sit in helps to keep the session ego-less and comfortable for everybody. This is not to say that the players aren’t as good. Quite the opposite The players are killin’! (Props to Jeremy Carter on “Stella,” that was smokin’ and Denise “Silver Eyes” set the night). They’re just not out to kill the other players. Denise said it best, “It’s a comfortable place to hang out, like my living room, only with an Eel named Diablo.”

Talking to the general manager Mark Cobalt, he told me that “Grille 29 wants to bring out and support the talent in the area, whether its local guys or the University musicians. We have the atmosphere.” And Grille 29 does. This feels like a jazz club. The group is elevated in the corner of the lounge area allowing the music to be accented and highlighted as the feature of the evening. This gives the musicians and the listeners the opportunity to experience real club atmosphere minus the smoke.

Overall the jam session is ego-less, hip, free and pulls from a vast amount of different styles and players. “There’s something for everyone, jazz lovers and non-jazz lovers.” said Dwayne White, a local jazz trumpet player. We highly recommend this session to all jazz musicians whether you know one tune or fifty, have been playing for 50 years or 1 year. The people are great and the stress is on the importance of developing a jazz community. It’s a great way to meet people, socialize and make connections, as a lot of the people attending work regularly in the area, play and enjoy a great evening in a very hip part of town.

Hot Jazz at the Gorilla Theatre

Sunday night, it wasn't just the jazz that was hot at the Gorilla Theatre. LaRue Nickelson and his handpicked quintet kept bringing the music despite inadequate air conditioning, as the small venue on North Hubert Avenue played host to around fifty jazz fans excited to hear some of Tampa's greatest.

Nickelson was joined by some of the finest jazz musicians anywhere for an excellent evening of originals with a lone standard in the penultimate spot. USF jazz department colleagues Mark Neuenschwander (b) and Steve Davis (d) joined Jeremy Powell (ts,cl) and electric bass phenom Patrick Bettison on keys and chromatic harmonica.

That the musicians were genuinely enjoying themselves was apparent, especially when Bettison's ebullient reaction to the twists and turns of a Powell solo got the rhythm section grinning ear to ear. Nickelson's compositions (to my ear) were a modern take on jazz-meets-americana (think Bill Frisell), ranging from loping, rootsy grooves to up-tempo broken swing. The guitar duties were all covered by Nickelson's semi-hollow G&L tele, with nary a hollowbody in sight.

Aside from the overwhelming heat (which prompted Nickelson to ask the audience, "hot enough in here?" The house offered free bottled water at intermission), the night was well worth attending (even from Lakeland). The bass and piano were lost in the mix the first set, but were plenty present for the second. It is disappointing to know that the Tampa Jazz Club does not consistently sell out the tiny hall (approximately 60 seats) every show. They would be well served by initiating an e-newsletter (Jazz Club board member Bob Seymour does send out information via email, which reached me via Dwayne White) and having, at the very least, a MySpace.

The group performs many different styles of jazz from Be Bop, Hard Bop, and Modern Jazz, to playing show tunes, and even the occasional Pop or Classical tune with a jazz twist. You might hear music from Cole Porter and Rogers and Hammerstein, to Miles Davis, or even Joni Mitchell and the Police as well as many original compositions.

Hi my name is Rich Van Voorst and I'm a grad student at the University of South Florida as well. I just finished a Masters in Jazz Composition and I'm currently going back for a third year to complete a Masters in Saxophone Performance. As Matt said, the point of this blog is to hip people to all the goings on in the straight ahead jazz scene in the greater Tampa area. We will focus on straight ahead jazz and stay away from the smooth jazz scene for the most part. Not to say that there is anything wrong with smooth jazz, but this blog serves to offer a solution to the many comments that we hear like "I can't really find any other jazz except smooth jazz." We hope you all enjoy it and we look forward to seeing you at upcoming shows.

As a student/employee involved in jazz at the University of South Florida, I am constantly getting asked where our patrons can see jazz other than University-related concerts. The truth is, there aren't myriad options in the Tampa Bay area. We at www.tampajazzscene.com will do everything in our power to chronicle as many straight-ahead jazz hits in the area as we can (disclosure: we will include our own gigs and you may see a lot of them - we have the most intimate knowledge of our own calendars), but we need you to do your part.

Conscientious jazz consumers will always go out of their way to thank the venues hosting live jazz. If you see a hit in a hotel, bar, or club and enjoyed it, take a moment to write or call management and thank them. If a venue discontinues live jazz, politely remind them how much you enjoyed it and (if it's true) that live jazz is a factor in determining where you go out for the night.

Additionally, let locations who aren't hosting live jazz know that you would enjoy it if they would begin to. Many proprietors are willing to give anything a try to get customers in the door and keep them there.

As musicians, listeners, educators, and fans, it is our responsibility to build a jazz scene in the Tampa Bay area. Make sure to say thanks to the musicians, too!

Hello. My name is Matthew. You'll find me writing here from time to time about the Tampa Bay jazz scene. You may not think there's a lot going on here, but there is; you just have to know where to look.

If you've made it this far, you know exactly where to look.

As a point of introduction, I am a graduate student at the University of South Florida. I am studying jazz bass with Mark Neuenschwander and classical bass with Dee Moses. I am a graduate assistant for the Center for Jazz Composition and work part time for WUSF radio. I teach applied bass at Southeastern University. I do the majority of my writing at 104 weeks, my Grad School blog, and have a rarely-updated website here.

Look for me around the area (I live in Lakeland) and stop by often. Things will be moving quickly around here.
